Ganton School has an active and thriving School Council, elected each September to represent the views of all the pupils.
They meet at least half termly to plan and debate current issues and also send representatives to the local Youth Parliament which meets termly at The Guildhall. From within the School Council sub-groups are formed to enable as many pupils as possible to participate actively in shaping the school community.
We are also members of the Humber Education Trust School Council and have 2 representatives sitting on the council.
There is an Eco School Action Team promoting the sustainability agenda, a People and Planet group promoting Fairtrade, a Healthy Helpers group promoting physical health and emotional well-being, an International group promoting British Values and a growing understanding of diversity in the world and an E Safety group educating members of the school community about the risks of modern technology.
Ganton is also a Rights Respecting School and we are proud to hold the Gold Award (Awarded 2018) . This is an award accredited by UNICEF to schools which teach about the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and place Children’s Rights at the heart of their ethos and practice. The Rights Respecting Award helps us to create a safe inspiring place to learn where children are respected, their talents are nurtured and they are able to thrive. The RRSA embeds these values in daily school life and gives our children the best chance to lead , healthy lives and become responsible , active citizens.
